Seeking Opportunities Accessing Resources

Seeking Opportunities Accessing Resources (SOAR) is a day program empowering adults with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis to increase independence and community participation through activities like job preparation, money management, healthy cooking, fitness, and outings. Our transition-based philosophy emphasizes community engagement to remove barriers and enhance participation rights. Examples of SOAR programming include:
  • Community Outings:
    Explore Toronto's landmarks and neighborhoods, mastering TTC navigation.
  • Make a Meal:
    Cook diverse recipes and enjoy meals with friends.
  • Job Workshop:
    Learn interview skills, resume writing, and job readiness.
  • Budgeting:
    Gain lifelong financial skills through budget creation, money management, and saving strategies.
  • Recreation:
    Engage in dance sessions, karaoke nights, arts activities, and carnival games, celebrating inclusion and fun.

Our pROCESS

STEPS TO ACCESS SERVICES

Fee for Service program intake is completed by a Recreation Therapist and Supervisor and programming can be purchased through Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCCSS) “Passport” funding or personal funds. Register for each program activity with My Community Hub (LINK) https://mycommunityhub.ca/

  • Assessing Eligibility
  • Prioritizing Needs
  • Guiding Individuals through the Referral Process

Participation in Springboard’s community-based programs for individuals with developmental disabilities requires a referral through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO). The DSO is responsible for assessing eligibility, prioritizing needs, and guiding individuals through the referral process.

Note: Please note, the waitlist can be lengthy, and placement is based on individual needs. While we collaborate closely with the DSO, Springboard is not responsible for selecting or prioritizing participants for our services.

Before I joined SOAR, I was just playing video games every day…but since I came to SOAR, I have made new friends, and I like to go to Scarborough Town Centre with them. I take the TTC by myself too.
